Australians in New York
The E-3 Capital of America
New York isn't just where Australians visit — it's where they work. With a work index of 2.5, the state attracts 2.5x more E-3 visa filings than its share of Australian residents would predict. 12,732 Aussies call New York home, but a staggering 20,054 E-3 filings have been filed here since 2020 — nearly a third of all E-3 jobs nationwide. From Wall Street to Madison Avenue, companies like Amazon and Macquarie Holdings (USA) are flying the flag for Australian talent.

Work index = share of E-3 jobs ÷ share of Australian residents. Above 1.0 means more Australians are sponsored to work here than live here. Below 1.0 means more settle here by choice.
E-3 filings are job applications, not individual people — renewals and amendments inflate counts. For population, refer to Census figures. Sources: US Census ACS B05006, US DOL LCA disclosures.
