Australians in Texas

Big State, Big Opportunity

Texas punches above its weight for Australian workers. With a work index of 1.20, the Lone Star State attracts more E-3 filings than its resident population alone would suggest. 7,105 Australians call Texas home, with 5,502 E-3 filings across cities like Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Tech, energy, and finance drive the demand — Amazon alone is one of the biggest E-3 filers in the state. Median E-3 salary: $126k.

Work index = share of E-3 jobs ÷ share of Australian residents. Above 1.0 means more Australians are sponsored to work here than live here. Below 1.0 means more settle here by choice.

E-3 filings are job applications, not individual people — renewals and amendments inflate counts. For population, refer to Census figures. Sources: US Census ACS B05006, US DOL LCA disclosures.
